Apparently October 4th is National Vodka Day in the States, so I’m celebrating with them with this twist on the traditional Cosmopolitan, one of the most popular vodka-based cocktails.
Starting with Absolut Raspberri Vodka, I replaced the traditional Cointreau with Chambord, a liquer made from black raspberries and vanilla; the juice of freshly squeezed passionfruit replaced cranberry juice and pink grapefruit juice took the place of lime. It’s a beautiful and unusual combination of flavours, with the tart grapefruit cutting through the sweetness of the Chambord and passionfruit. This would be a great drink to serve at a party or at a wedding reception.
To make a Cosmo Twist, you will need:
- 2 shots Absolut Raspberri Vodka
- 1 shot Chambord
- the juice of one freshly squeezed and deseeded passionfruit
- 1/2 shot of grapefruit juiceFirst things first; chill your glass (preferably a martini glass) by filling it with ice or placing it in a freezer for a few minutes. Next, measure all ingredients in to a cocktail shaker along with a handful of ice. Secure lid of cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for 30 seconds, then strain into your chilled (emptied) glass. Sit back, relax and schlurp.
Until next time,
The Stamford Foodie.
